This ain’t Kansas Simon – this is Auckland

March 11th, 2010

The Ministry of Justice is recommending that the laws surrounding self defence not be changed.

Justice Minister Simon Power asked for the laws to be reviewed after an Auckland liquor store owner had his charges for using a hockey stick during a violent robbery thrown out of court.

Charges against Virender Singh of injuring with intent to injure were dismissed in March last year.

A report obtained under the Official Information Act says self-defence laws are clear as they are.

However, it says, making an explicit reference to self defence in prosecution guidelines could be considered.

The girl’s mother sued the state on her daughter’s behalf, claiming the bullying started when the girl began Year 7.

The girl claimed to have been spat at, had chairs thrown at her and that another student had threatened to bring a gun to school and shoot her.

The way to save money in the area of mental health – is to have preventative measures – rather than A and E responses, according to Australian of the Year Professor Patrick Mc Gorry.

With his emphasis on early intervention and a commitment to educating the community to the early signs of mental illness, Professor McGorry’s extraordinary 27-year contribution has transformed the lives of tens of thousands of young people the world over.

Preemptive terrorism laws required for – boyracers – P addicts.

March 10th, 2010

Lets get this straight – if a man breaches a protection order by phoning or arriving at his child’s home he is locked up forthwith – without exception – and deemed to have committed a criminal act.

If I swear at a Police man – or park too long somewhere – I will suffer the consequences and be towed away.

If a boy racer intimidates anybody anywhere anytime – he is ticketed and warned several times prior to any legal action being taken at all. Then he can accumulate $1000s of fines and not pay them back

Shaun – just about home – Hokianga bound

    March 10th, 2010

With 390 ks to go at 8 am this morning – Shaun Quincy is finally on the home run.

    Hokianga - Shaun's destination - this weekend?

Within 4-7days to landfall – Shaun is aiming for the Hokianga Harbour – where his father left from on the same mission 37 years ago.

He has 24 litres of water left out of 39 that was dropped by helicopter last week.

Most days Shaun says he wins and loses ground – 390 kms to go and has traveled 3000. He says he is not too keen on cleaning under boat because of the numerous big fish cruising past.
